The Room Before

Picture
The only before shot I could find of this room.

The Original Concept

Picture
I decided Peter Pan would make for a cool nursery so I doodled a few rough sketches to show Tory what I had in mind.

Chair Rail

Picture
Tory decided to do a Victorian treatment to the chair rail.  I'm not sure why I agreed since I'm the one who ended up painting each individual flower but in the end it turned out great. It's very subtle but so pretty.

The Saga Of The Lamp

Picture
I'm rather proud of this lamp because I made it.  Granted I had to tear apart 3 lamps to make one but still I think it came out nice.

Lamp Fabric Close Up

Picture
It was not as easy as I thought to re-cover a lamp but after playing around with a few different ideas at least I know which methods work best if I ever do it again.

The Lamp Saga Continues

Picture
One corner wasn't getting enough light so I decided to get a floor lamp.  But we also had too much stuff on top of the dersser/changing table.  So I opted to get a nightstand and recycle one of my lamps.  Using the base parts for a lamp I tore apart, I re-painted a blank lamp base and came up with this lamp.  Pay no attention to my exposed cords, we're not done with electrical work yet.

There's potential here

Picture
I found this tucked away in the corner of an antique store for next to nothing.  If you were a kid in the 60's/70's you might recognize it.  It would have had springs on it attached to a metal base.  A new base (I'm thinking wooden like the antique rocking horses) and some paint might turn this in to something.   I could paint it with an Indian flair so it becomes Tigerlilly's horse or something.  I have other ideas in mind if I don't use it for this room.  Never turn your back on something that has multiple potential final projects.

Fireplace for the bedroom?

Picture
I had bought one of those space heaters that looks like a fireplace for my bedroom.  I put it in the nursery one day (for Banjo to take over) and realized I like it in here.  When we build the faux columns we could run a pipe from the heater to the column to give the illusion of a real wood burning stove in a room.  It'll be a wait and see thing if we put one in there.
